Omgosh you guys, I failed at holding off Christmas Decorating until after Thanksgiving! The Mr had to travel out of town for a few days, so I retreated from the City out to the Country. Leave a girl with unfettered-access to the attic contents and evenings without dinner preparation/clean-up time and you’ve got the perfect storm for a Holiday Decorating Extravaganza! I’ve been eating from the same pot of lentil soup for three nights, but in my opinion, it’s been totally worth it. Okay, so granted the lighting was much better yesterday -today is the darkest, rainiest day ever- but doesn’t this black cake plate piled high with mini-pumpkins and apples look better now that I have added an extra layer by scattering in a few pinecones? You’ve gotta trust me here, in real life it does! Outside of the pinecones, I plan on keeping my Thanksgiving table looking like it’s thanksgiving – but the rest of the house is in full-on Winter Wonderland mode! This year I am hosting my sister and her beau for Thanksgiving dinner at the country house. They are traveling from Michigan, and will stay with us throughout the following weekend. I got to thinking about the fact that my sister has never experienced how I decorate at the holidays (as I always travel to Michigan at Christmas and have never hosted my family at my home) so I decided that I really should get them put out before her arrival. My mom helped me sort through my drama over “skipping” Thanksgiving by reminding me that Thanksgiving is falling late this year and by November the 25th or 26th I am usually pretty much decorated for Christmas anyway. So if you are interested in seeing the sneak peeks of our holiday decor in real time as I decorate, follow my ABCDDesigns instagram or ABCDDesigns tumblr page. (I always share my IG to Tumblr.) I have been getting lots of great feedback in the comments from my followers there – they say they’re finding Christmas Decorating Ideas and Holiday Decor Inspiration from my posts – which makes me really happy!
