Remember way back when I told you that all the open shelves in our house were making me crazy? I’ve made it no secret that I have wanted to put doors on these extra deep bookcases in the fireplace room since before we put an offer on our house. The open shelves are nice in the fireplace room, but considering we are blessed with only one real closet in the house, something must be done. Fact is, I’ve been sitting here longingly staring at these nearly empty, potential storage shelves for far too long! The benefit to closing off these shelves will be two fold. 1) The mirror will bounce light around the room making the narrow space feel wider than it is. 2) Hidden behind the doors we’ll have much needed space to store folded sweaters, jeans, bulky blankets and linens. This is a much better solution for us – no more wasted potential storage space!Thankfully, I recently found the perfect guy to do the job! He started working on the doors last week, and it’s only a matter of time before we have them installed. Between the pair of vintage sofas coming back from being slipcovered, the partner desk and the new doors – the fireplace room is due for a massive transformation in the next month or so!
