As I am sure you’re well aware – I have posted many recipes and tutorial for roast beef and beef brisket in the past. Roasted or braised with vegetables, you can get a lot of bang for your buck by serving a brisket. The Beef Brisket recipe featured below struck a chord with me because I adore roasted prunes. They’re hot, sweet, intense and bursting with flavor ~ so delish! BTW: I have another dish that utilizes roasted prunes … do you remember my chicken marbella recipe?
If you ask me what my favorite thing to eat is – I’m pretty sure it would involve Sour Cherry American Spoon Fruit and a dollop of crème fraiche. These two ingredients would be smothered on some sort of eggy and slightly sweet, toasted breakfast bread. However, if I were selecting from savory dishes – I’d pick spaghetti carbonara, or medium-rare lamb chops. Needless to say, when I stumbled upon this lamb chop recipe, I was romanced by the idea of combining two of my favorite flavors – sour cherry and lamb! In my mind, I instantly substituted my Sour Cherry American Spoon Fruit where it asks for 3 Tablespoons of cherry jam. I might consider using a peppery red wine instead of port in this recipe… just thinking out-loud here.
I think that this Corn Pudding recipe would be wonderful served aside either the beef brisket or the lamb chops – I love the idea of mixing the simple flavors of milk, egg, pepper and onion with the robust and earthy, fruit-flavored main dishes.
