As you remember, I went to the flower market last Wednesday morning. We are finally feeling a little more settled in the house. In celebration of that fact, I wanted to have some flowers out on the table tops over the weekend. We were also invited to have dinner at a new friend’s house on Saturday night. I made an apple raspberry crisp for dessert, but I also wanted to be sure I had a nice hostess gift in hand when we arrived.Isn’t it amazing how different the arrangement looks with different background colors? The first image is in the kitchen right near the West facing window. The second one was taken in our chelsea grey dining room on our jacobean brown stained dining table with a lot of natural Eastern light. I had no idea what our hostesses personal style was, but it was Mother’s Day and I figured “What mom with two sweet little girls can’t appreciate a bit of pink?”Speaking of modern decor: once we decided upon shiny white concrete floors for the house, I found myself with a place that needed grounding. I didn’t want our new home to feel too much like the Soho apartment – and once the white floors were in – all of a sudden our cozy house felt like a big white box! That is when I made the decision to go with a lot of dark color on the walls. I couldn’t be happier with the result.
