I squealed when I saw this delicious hot color combination of Zinnia together at our market this week. It reminds me of some of the mixed Tulips I purchased earlier this Spring that looked so good in our library. So I immediately tried to recreate that color combination by picking up two bunches of Zinnia and two of the purple Dianthus. (I also grabbed two bunches of orange ‘Babe’ spray roses that I will feature in another post!)
I rarely put flowers on the twig table because I feel like it’s overkill if I already have an arrangement on the cocktail table. (Oh you should see the arrangement Babe Spray Roses and Dianthus I have on the cocktail table right now, LOVE!!) In this case, the Zinnia are such a pretty color compliment for this room that I took the photos in there and then promptly moved them to the breezy screened in porch for my enjoyment during morning coffee and wine o’clock.
Below, you see a photo I snapped earlier this Spring with Daffodils and Tulips on the twig table -and as a side note- this vase is becoming one of my very favorites to arrange flowers in. If you like arranging flowers, I highly suggest you add a small, fan shape vase to your pottery collection. Arranging in it makes me want this Baccarat Oceanie Vase I have been longing for in Moss Green even more than ever. (I first saw it at the Baccarat Holiday event in 2011 and –wouldn’t you know- Santa didn’t read that blog post either = Ha!)
Ok, back to Zinnia, sort of! I started a blog post back in 2009 about Quimper pottery. For whatever reason, I never posted it and eventually it got deleted. I absolutely love Quimper. Most likely it’s because my mom loves it (she has a remarkable collection!) and it reminds me of being Up North, which truly is one of the best places on earth to be. I only have two pieces of Quimper – this one and a smaller version of this pattern with a ruffled edge.
Anyway, stay tuned for some more flower arrangements in hot orange and purple. Man, they’re pretty! I hope you all have a super Summer weekend. Try to stay cool – I think I have heard that the heat wave in the Northeast is due to break sometime on Saturday. Between you and me, I wouldn’t mind that a bit. Oof! It’s hot…
