What a week. Seriously. It started raining on Sunday and it just hasn’t stopped! Our now infamous integrating the out-building project (that was supposed to start in mid-August) has been postponed three times now. First it was the stonemason taking holiday, the second time it was Irene, and now it’s because the soil is too wet. Perhaps it’s all for the best? Had they started this week, the yard would be all ripped up for my parents first visit to the East coast in nearly five years.Mom and Dad’s visit is a really big deal to me. They don’t get out this way often, so I am pretty excited. I’ve spent the lionshare of this week preparing the house – I hope it’s up to snuff! I baked a banana bread early in the week and froze it for consumption one weekend morning while they are here. I’ve never tried to freeze baked goods before, but the bananas were good and ready for bread baking. Fingers crossed it tastes delicious!Don’t you worry, I’ll share the recipe next week. This week, (obviously) things are not going according to plan. I noticed yesterday that feed burner delivered two posts on one day to you. I bet most of you missed the Cheesy Artichoke Dip recipe I posted Tuesday because it was buried under Wednesday’s London post. Am I right? Speaking of things not going as smoothly as I would like…today is Brimfield day and I am not in the car yet. I know. I know! Not to make excuses, but…
1) I misplaced my ATM card after using it last Saturday. I am waiting for a new one to be delivered – I thought it would come yesterday – I’m still waiting. Brimfield is no fun with no cash.
2) I awoke to driving rain that I wouldn’t dare drive 100+ miles in. The 1st road I am scheduled to take is actually closed due to flooding.
3) The Mr. has decided to arrive at The Country House this evening, and work from here Friday. That means I have to be back to Northwest Connecticut by the time his train gets into the station this evening. I can’t get in a situation where roads are closed and leave him stranded. Also, it means I need to be pretty much ready for Mom and Dad’s visit tonight, not tomorrow night.
